The 2015 Honda CR-V, like most Honda vehicles has a timing chain. The timing chain is more durable than a belt but they serve the same purpose. It connects the crankshaft and the camshaft so they work in unison to open and close the intake and exhaust valves at the right time for proper combustion. The timing chain is located on the passenger side of the engine and is sealed behind a cover. The chain is provided with constant lubrication from the engine oil and rarely needs serviced.
