The 2016 Ford F-150 does not have any open manufacturer's recalls or technical service bulletins for issues relating to the hood latch. Judging from driver complaints, it doesn't seem that the hood latch fails on the '16 F-150 at a greater rate than any other vehicle; however, that doesn't mean that You're not susceptible to malfunction. From time to time, You may find Yourself with a broken latch. Hopefully, this happens in such a way that the broken latch does not jam the hood shut, but it may. You'll need to first get get the hood open before You can replace it. On one hand, it's rather inexpensive for an automotive repair. On the other hand, it's rather expensive for a small piece of metal -- You'll be paying somewhere between $50 and $105 for a replacement latch.

The hood latch is rusted and wouldn't latch. I cleaned it with rust desolver and sandpaper, then lubed it up with spray silicone. It works again.
