The 2017 Ford Focus makes use of a timing chain, instead of a timing belt. Timing chains play a vital role in the cars performance, and are used as part of the engine. They are responsible for managing the rotations of both the crankshaft as well as the camshaft. These, in turn, manage the engines valves. As a result, the timing chain (or belt) regulates and controls when and how the engines valves open and shut. This is particularly important as the opening and closing of these valves need to happen in a synC-HRonized or rhythmic manner to manage intake and exhaust correctly. The Fusion uses a particularly robust timing chain which has an expected lifetime of about 250,000 miles. After that, it will likely require a replacement.

The Focus comes with a timing chain, not a belt. This chain is meant to last the entire lifetime of the engine. Unlike the timing belt which can break and sometimes destroy an engine, the timing belt is much more robust and lasting.

There are no Focus engines that come with timing chains. For Ecoboost engines the timing belt is immersed into oil and needs to be changed every 200000km or 10 years. I don't know exactly for diesel engines but it will be simmilar.
