The 2017 Ford Focus transmission problems are jerks or hard shifts. The transmission fluid needs to be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Along with fluid changes, terrible sounds will come from the transmission. Old transmission fluid will be awful to the ear. A worn out torque converter will cause a headache. The transmission is one of the most crucial parts of the vehicle. You will come into issues at some point. The gears can become stuck. There could be jerking. Hard shifts may arise and that is no good. You might experience shudders. Delayed shifts will cause acceleration problems. The transmission could slip. If the transmission fluid leaks, that needs to be patched quickly.

There have been complaints of the dual clutch system used in ford focus. They cause hard shifting and vibrations felt through the vehicle.

The 2017 Focus has a new design but the same dual clutch automaticќ transmission system as previous year models which do pose a problem for longer wear and tear issues.

The Focus still has the transmission in the automatic that has caused problems in the past. In 2017 consumers started suing Ford because the transmissions were not working properly and needed to be replaced or repaired prematurely. They have since addressed the problem. However, if you are looking to avoid the problem all together, a manual transmission will not have the history of premature failure.

Our 2017 Focus needs its 5th clutch pack at 60,000 miles...Ford has refused to pay for the repair under warranty. Do not buy any Focus or Fiesta with the "automatic" DPS6 transmission in it they are junk and you will have problems with it for the life of the vehicle. The first problem started acting up at 18,000, 2nd at 27,000, 3rd at 43,000, 4th at 56,000...now needs 5th clutch pack which Ford says is out of warranty, they deny any responsibility for their faulty design which THEIR ENGINEERS told them about.

My 2017 Ford Focus had a transmission that has completely failed and was “blown out” at 95,000mi ! The transmission began slipping first at around 85,000 then just completely died at 95K miles. I paid for new transmission on my own and now the car is experiencing hard starting and acceleration jerking at 101,000 miles. This is the worst car I have ever owned.I paid 40,000 for a piece of s**t car that had barely lasted 5 years. I want my money back and I want another car !!!

The transmission in the ford focus has been an issue over several years. Hesitation during shifting, unusual noises when shifting, and rolling backwards on hills to name a few.

I had to have major transmission work done on my 2017 Focus at 24,000 miles and the same work again at 28,000 miles. The dealership is more that 20 miles away and they didn't have a loaner vehicle for me while my car was being repaired.

My 2017 Ford Focus has a bad clutch in the automatic transmission. Since the transmission is sealed, it was the only thing that my mechanic was unable to check out before I bought it in July. About 64k miles. $1,600. Kinda tough....I'm on social security. And I thought my OLD car was costing me money!

2017 Ford Focus Titanium, clutch stuck engage error code P2872. Car will not start because the automatic clutch does not disengage. Car started having this problem 3 years after purchase. Thought it was a battery problem because car would not start or have any power at all. Replaced battery for $175 dollars. Still had problems with car starting occasionally. Three years later car engine light came on, if I could get the car to start, it ran rough trying to shift. This is an automatic transmission. Car would shake and accelerate weakly. Had diognatic test, error code P2872 and P286F, both are faulty clutch errors. No factory recall on my car even though there is a recall on 2012 - 2018 Focus and Fiesta transmission. This is bulls#*t!!!!

2017 ford focus. Started having stuttering and shifting issues around 110k miles. Would have to turn the car off and back on to almost get the clutch/ car to “reset” now today at 113k the trans is completely fried… one mechanic quoted me 3,500, one quoted me 4,500 and the other said he wouldn’t even touch that POS designed car.. My uncle who works for ford says that it’s under warranty which I’m gonna have him check on when he is back at work tomorrow..

I have a 2017 for focus. The clutch first went out for me at 4,500 then again at 20,000. They then told me they rebuild the transmission and the clutch went-out again roughly at 45,000 miles. I took my car to the dealership right before my warranty expired and they told me my clutch wasn’t bad enough to fix. Now here i am at 77,000 and my clutch is bad. Contacted ford and said there is nothing they can do. How is that when they have fixed it that many times under warranty how are they not required to fix it again?!

2017 Ford Focus SEL transmission control module went bad which damaged the transmission. Total rebuild now required and Ford will not help with repair even though the tech acknowledge the TCM is an issue and there is a backlog order of over 27,000 right now. I am going to fix and sell.
