With much debate about oil dilution, Honda claims that this problem has been solved in the 2019 Honda CR-V. There have been a few reported complaints of this happening in the 2019 model, but nothing like the 2017 and 2018 models. The oil dilution problem happened when the direct injection sprayed fuel into the cylinder. During engine operation, some of the fuel would stick on the cylinder wall and travel down into the crankcase and mix with the oil in the oil pan. Normally the fuel will vaporize and get burned off, but sometimes it can build up and dilute the oil. This was usually more prevalent in colder areas, a software update was able to fix this problem in the older models.

My 2019 also has this issue. Oil level is 1 inch over high on the dip stick. Long trips to not cause it to "burn off." Maybe Honda will have to change their blue theme, once all the CRVs start blowing blue smoke.

To say oil dilution is normal in any engine is obsurd. Oil and gas should not mix period. One extra year warranty is useless when your engine is garbage at 8 years old.Foamy thinner oil at 0 w 20 isn't going to protect A 1.5 l , high rpm engine. At higher mileage , these engines will fail.My 2017 had higher oil level and strong gas smell in oil after 3 weeks of oil change. The valves carboning up is A whole different issue as per veteran mechanics. Who will help us at 10 years of driving. What's it worth when the problem gets out there ? "0".

I have a 2019 crv- it's not solved. Will likely have to trade in after 30-50k miles just to try to get some money back. Honda should be ashamed- this is my third new and last Honda of my life

It was recently discovered by Honda that their 1.5L turbo inline-4 Earth Dreams engine had issues with oil dilution in cold weather, but not to fear Honda has issued service notices for the older CR-Vs that used this engine and have fixed the issue at the factory for the 2019 model. So, the 2019 should not have an oil dilution issue, but if you have an older model, take it to a dealership and have it checked.

Honda has not issued service notice or recalls for their oil dilution issues. They will once their engines stall and people die. At present (03-2020) they have extended warranty.

I just had my oil in my 2019 Civic tested by Blackstone Laboratories and at 2,500 miles I had 3.8% fuel in my oil.The test also show the was shot and needed to be replaced at 2,500 miles

Why is it that when you take it in for regular oil changes nothing is ever said to the customer. Then when you actually say something and they check nothing wrong is found but when I check it, it's almost an inch above the full line and smells of gas.

We have a 2021 honda crv and it suffers from oil dilution. Given we have a lot of customers here with the same problem with their hondas...has someone already started with a class action?

They have problems not only in cold weather, i planned to buy this car from a friend. 1500 ago oil was changed, the gas smelling is so pronounced already through the oil verification orifice. It's summer. I find honda interior to be so cheap, the paint is also bad.. After 2 years is full of scratches. They were good for reliability but now i don't know how much that engine will last with all this gas entering the oil. I never owned an honda.. But i don't plan to now.
