Ford's tricky with this one, as You'll get a warning on Your Ford Edge that says "check charging system" -- but You're not really supposed to check it to do much diagnostic work at all. What it means is that Your system is somehow failing, so You'll need to diagnose between the battery and the alternator. The most common cause of this warning light is a failing battery -- the good news is that replacements can be had relatively inexpensively. You can expect somewhere between $80 and $150 for a new Ford Edge battery. An alternator, on the other hand, will set You back quite a bit more. You can begin by testing Your battery's voltage, and let the diagnostics take over from there.
I have the same problem: my ford edge2011 is showing the Check Charging System light. I changed the alternator and the tensioner and the battery tests good yet the light is still showing. In fact, the car almost died on me. Had to managed to the mechanics. What can be done now?

@newton I’m having the same problem. I changed the alternator and battery but it still comes on and it runs fine but when I turn it off that’s when the battery drains
I have taken it in 3 times and the Check Charging System light still comes on every several minutes, they replaced the battery and the alternator and don't know what to do next.

The most common cause of a check charging system issue is that the alternator has gone bad and is no longer able to charge the battery. Another common cause is that the battery has gone bad and can no longer hold a charge.
Have your vehicle checked for an electronic paracidic draw. This can be caused by the factory alarm system. It is drawing power when the vehicle is off. It is possible that there could be a weak or defective relay allowing a drain to a number of different circuits as well. Easy to check w/ the right type of meter. Battery suppliers can verify the draw but normally won't get involved w/ isolating the defective component.
I had my key turned just enough to leave my air conditioning on while i sat in the grocery store parking lot. 5 minutes later the warning came up. Since it was running solely on battery power, should i be concerned or was my car telling me to be aware that i was running my car on my battery? We just got this 2013 ford edge as my first car less than 3 weeks ago from the dealership.

I am having that issue on a 2018, turn on heat along with other electronics, light comes on. Turn off, no light.. So, I think the problem is the battery is too small to power the vehicle. You need to buy the premium battery, will hold more power and will operate the electronics.
I have this same issue I've change about everything including wires checked every ground. It is a common issue as I see but I've read and read on this issue next move is coils and spark plugs. And new PCM.

2013 Ford Edge, charging light comes on intermittently; however, battery and charging system test at Autozone shows fine. It's the Starting System check that fails every time. I think the Charging System light is used for both issues.
2013 ford edge limited awd changed battery wire n alternator same light
