To reset the security system in the 2008 Nissan Xterra, You can first attempt to remove the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes or more. This will clear some, but not all, of the security system faults -- You may get lucky, and this will solve Your issue. The other method is a bit more involved, but works to a greater degree. Close all the doors, leaving the driver's window open. Lock the doors through the window the electrical lock button. Wait thirty seconds, then unlock the driver's door using the key. Wait another thirty seconds, and finally open the door. If all is successful, this should have reset Your anti theft security system.
