Changing the security pad on Your 2013 Ford Explorer is not exactly a simple task, but most folks that know their way around a vehicle should be able to navigate it in a long afternoon. It's important to note that the Securicode system is proprietary to Ford, so You'll want to go with a proprietary replacement part; other options will not work as intended. You'll need to remove the inner trim for the affected door. Once inside, You should have access to the four bolts that hold the keypad in place; remove these, along the with the electrical connector, and gently push the pad toward the exterior of the vehicle. It may take a little force, but once it breaks loose, You can replace it in much of the same way as You removed the old one.
