To reset the 2013 Ford Focus TCM You will start by putting the transmission in N with the key ON but not started. Then turning to off, put back in P and then turn to ON, wait, then start. When You put in in N without the car running, You will get a message that says Transmission Ready and a progress bar. A transmission control module (TCM) controls Your transmission functions and shifting. Your TCM also works with the engine, transmission fluid temperature sensor, brake pedal position sensor, throttle position sensor, and in some cases, the turbine sensor. When working properly, a TCM helps maintain gear settings, fuel economy, and emission controls.

Place the transmission in n but not started with the on switch. Then turn off, put back in p and turn on, wait and then continue. You get a message that says transmission ready and a progress bar when you put in n without the car running.
