In order to reset the Ford Escape's sunroof, You'll have to complete a relatively simple procedure. On 2012 or older model years (and similar model year Mercury Mariners), You'll need to have the driver's side door open and the key on. Push the sunroof to vent, and turn the key off. Then, quickly turn the key back on, and tap the vent button again quickly, before pushing it and holding it. 2013 and newer model years are a bit different. Driver's door needs to be open, key goes off, on, off, on, then push the sunroof closed button quickly, before pressing and holding it. After about 20 seconds, it'll open all the way and then close. The reset it now complete.

Open the driver front door (it must be opened throughout the whole procedure). Turn the ignition to the on position, and within 5 seconds to the following: turn the ignition on and off and back on and press the sliding glass panel close switch for a second and then release. Press and hold the sliding glass button until the window opens all the way and back to a fully closed position. Release, turn the car on and test to see if the procedure was a success.
