The Jeep Patriot Limp Mode will limit vehicle speed and acceleration to protect the transmission. If activated, it may be reset by turning the ignition off and firing the engine again. You may also try disconnecting the negative battery cable. After 15-20 minutes, reconnect the battery cable to restart the engine and see if Limp Mode has been cleared. No clear LM reset procedure exists for the average consumer without the help of an OBDII scanner or professional mechanic. It is in place to prevent engine and transmission damage and usually highlights an operating problem. In the Jeep Patriot, throttle body issues are very common and could be the cause of Your sudden loss of power. Throttle body replacement averages between $440-$540 in parts and labor.

To reset the Jeep Patriot limp mode, you'll bring your car to a full stop. Move your automatic transmission to PARK. Change the key on the ignition to OFF. Wait for 10 seconds. Switch the engine back on. Choose the gear of your preference.

I have a 2014 jeep patriot. I ran out of gas a couple weeks ago. My car now has no power and Ihave no money to fixit. Is there something I can do to fix it myself. Ive been reading about a reset switch could that help. It does start and drive
I replaced a transmission in a 16 patriot . Took it to the dealer ship to reprogram and they say it doesn’t read any codes like there’s not even a transmission there
I changed throttle baby and gas paddle and still in limp mode and took cables off

This worked for my situation. Car was stalled in the snow for 36hrs and wouldn’t go past 2000rpm. Turning it off and locking it, then unlock and starting the acceleration is working like before. Did it go into this more because it was stuck in the snow for so long?
