Traction control can be a lifesaver in the case of loss of control, but it also takes a certain level of control out of the driver's hands; if You're struggling to get up a, say, icy hill in Your Chevrolet Silverado, You may find that spinning tires are just a necessary evil. You won't want them to cut out, because You may not make it to the top. Therefore, it's important to know the time and place when You want to disable the system. You can easily do so by finding the dash button that features an icon of a car with two wavy lines at the bottom. Pressing this toggles Your traction control system. Disabling it will turn it off, at least until You toggle it back on or turn off Your truck.

Stacey, if you are looking at the speedometer while pushing traction control, you'll notice a message indicating whether you are engaging or disengaging the traction control.
