The Dodge Neon, while not necessarily produced as a reliably high-mileage vehicle, can have a life as long as 200,000 miles with proper care and maintenance. It's estimated that on average, the Neon will require at least one major repair within the first 120,000 miles. However, there are anecdotal accounts of Neons lasting as long as 250,000 miles. As with any vehicle, longevity is partially a product of care and maintenance. If You want Your vehicle to last until its extremely high mileage, it's important to abide by maintenance schedules, including oil changes, fuel additives, fluid flushes, and more. You should be changing Your brakes at regular intervals as well. The better You take care of Your Neon, the better it will take care of You.

My 2002 neon is at 223,000 miles. She's lost some power and a few things vibrate in the cab but aside from that, runs great! Such a comfortable car.

I bought a 2002 Base Neon in August 2021 at ~155K miles and now it has about 163K miles on it. It's ran like a top by and large the entire time I've had it. It did have a wild month where the ECM, crank position sensor and cam position sensor and O2 sensors went bad but I've had all those replaced and the car has been back to its trouble free self. Regular oil changes and new spark plugs are the only other things this car has needed.Handling is great and the brakes have plenty of life left even though I've no idea when the last time its had a brake job. My main car is a Mercedes and still this car has been very appealing despite being as plain as my Benz is elaborate and feature laden. I am under the mentality if I fastidiously maintain and look after my Neon no different than if it was a Benz I could expect a similar lifespan from the Neon. I bet it will top 225K miles without any major effort.

After 260,000 miles our 1995 dodge neon has finally lost enough compression it won't start as of 9 Feb 2022. The drive train and transmission is all original and still works great. We bought it almost 20 years ago (at a used car lot to use as a commuter car) for $1000.00 dollars. It had about 90,000 miles when we bought it. So sad to see it go.
