The 2018 GMC Yukon comes with one of four different engines -- two are 5.3L 8 cylinder engines, and two are 6.2L 8 cylinder. The difference is engine code, but for our purposes, this is irrelevant. In fact, the engine size is irrelevant altogether -- each variant uses the same 8 quarts of SAE 0W-20 synthetic motor oil. However, in a pinch, You can safely substitute 5W-20 or 5W-30. However, this is not recommended for the long term. Motor oils with higher viscosities can cause the engine to work harder to produce the same output -- largely due to the friction introduced into the system. This can lead to wear and tear on Your engine that didn't need to be there, so You may fail earlier than anticipated. Do YourseLFA favor and go with the smallest numbers recommended -- You'll thank Yourself in the long run.

GMC's 2018 Yukon comes with a 5.3 liter in its SLE, SLT and SLT Standard trims. The recommended oil for this engine size is 8 quarts of 0w-20 viscosity oil. Similarly, the 6.2 liter engine Denali trim, uses the same amount and type. The larger engine doesn't change the fact that the Denali also holds 8 quarts of 0w-20 oil.
