The Ram 1500 5.7 L engine has an oil capacity of 7 quarts. It is recommended to use A5W-20 full synthetic motor oil in this engine. Do not overfill the engine when topping it up. It is always recommended to use the oil type suggested by the manufacturer. Doing so will ensure that You get the best possible performance and lifespan out of Your vehicle. Its parts will be efficiently lubricated, making it run smoothly. An oil change usually takes less than an hour and costs between $100 and $150 to get done. This will normally cost anywhere from $This time and cost is definitely worth it, as Your car will tank You for it. Especially if You get it done every 3500 to 5000 miles, as recommended.

I just changed the oil in my 2009 1500 4x4 5.7 and I have(7) quarts in now and it is showing a quart low still. Yes the truck is very level!

With oil changes (that I do ) I use the 5 qt. Container of fully synthetic Pennzoil 5W-20 and add 2 qts of Dura-Lube (7 qts. Total)
7qts. My 07 Quad 4x4 has 170k on it and has only ever had 5w-20 of top brand oils. (No full synthetics, too expensive and unnecessary if you religiously change your oil every 5K miles and use Seafoam gas treatment every fourth fill-up! Carbon is your enemy.) For those who don’t know, the reason the 5.7L HEMI holds 7qts instead of standard 6qts like most V8’s is because it’s designed to burn a quart of oil every 5K miles. Now you know.
