If Your Ford Focus has an automatic transmission, checking the transmission fluid is quite simple. First, You'll need to find the dipstick, which is located near the front of the engine compartment, near the air filter housing. You'll want to have Your Focus on a level surface; then, remove the dipstick and wipe it clean. Replace it, then remove it once more. You should get an accurate readout of Your level. If You have a manual transmission, no such dipstick exists. You'll need to remove the check plug, but there's no reason the fluid level should be off unless You have a detectable leak. To change the fluid, You'll have a lower hole to drain the system and an upper hole to refill it.

You will need to start up the car to check the transmission fluid in the ford fusion. Warm up the car and use the dipstick to check the fluid.

The ford fusion is one of the vehicles that ford equips with a transmission fluid dipstick which is located next to the oil dipstick in the engine bay. From here you can inspect the quality of the fluid and even top up the level.
