To check the transmission fluid in a 2013 Ford Explorer, find and pull the hood lever inside of Your cabin on the driver's side. Then find and release the safety in the front of the hood, and push it toward the passengers side to release the lock. Youll find the transmission fluid indicator under the cap, to the right of the Ford logo, tucked toward the ground. Before removing the cap, clean any debris off by wiping it with a clean rag so nothing falls in. Check the fluid level while the engine is running since it needs to be from 180 to 200 F. Pull the cap off, wipe the dipstick, reinsert it and lock it, then pull it out again. Check the MIN and MAX marks. Too low, and You need to top it off. Too high, and You need to remove some fluid.

To check the transmission fluid simply insert the dipstick into the fluid reservoir and note the level.

To check transmission fluid on the 2013 ford explorer, use a dipstick that is located near the firewall in the engine compartment. Please refer to the owner's manual.

Jill is wrong above. I found the dipstick on my 2017. It’s just below the air filter box!

Seems to depend on the trans. Mine does NOT have a dipstick attached to the cap under the air filter

The owner's manual says it doesn't have a dipstick. BUT it does. Check videos to find it. Easy check, it must be done while the transmission fluid is warm and the engine is running.
