To check the transmission fluid on the Ford Escape is simple and takes a few minutes. What you're going to want to do first is drive your vehicle for about 20 minutes so that the oil can warm up. Then, park your vehicle and activate the parking brake. Do not turn off the vehicle. Then, pull on the hood release lever to open the hood. Once the hood is open, prop it so it won't fall down on you. Then, pull out the transmission dipstick and wipe the fluid off with a shop towel. Insider the dipstick back in and pull it out again. You should now be able to see your transmission fluid level accurately on the dipstick.

A 2017 Ford escape doesn't have a dip stick for transmission fluid.

The top answer is the wrong answer. The 2017 Escape does not have a dipstick. Supposedly the transmission oil is good for 150,000 miles although I wouldn't wait that long. There is a port that can be accessed thru the driver side wheel well. You unscrew port screw with the engine warmed up and running. If tranny oil comes out it's overfilled. Leave this screw out until no more oil comes out. This is usually done as the last step in the transmission oil change procedure to make sure the level is correct

Margaret is an idiot. On a 2017 the plug can only be reached by lifting the car up and removing the car under shield. You have to remove the transmission check plug and if trans fluid flows out then it’s full If not then you have to add through filler port on top side until fluid flows freely from plug port. Once it does then replace plug and bottom engine cover. Sorry MARGARET. STICK TO THE KITCHEN.

As far as I can see, there is no trans dip sick for a 2018 1.5 ecoboost.

I have a 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid and it does not have a dipstick to check transmission fluid levels. From the research I’ve done, I’m going to have to lift the entire car level (to get an accurate reading), take off the driver’s side wheel well, and put in some fluid if there isn’t already some pouring out from the plug. Really wish I just had a dipstick lol

Ford removed the dipstick so you CAN'T check the fluid, bonus for them now you need a new & improved transmission at 1/3 of the cost of the car, everyone makes money except YOU, even Henry would be discussed

Can you all please EXPLAIN where to find the dip stick or where the ATF should be topped off at. There is no sense in draining the ATF and it can't be replaced. 2018Forde

Denise P. That I certifiably wrong. Not ALL ford escapes have a dipstick. My 2019 does not have one, for example. Maybe don't make generic comments and do some research

The ford escape has a transmission fluid dipstick under the hood for easily checking the level of the transmission fluid.
