There is not any way to disable the auto start stop system in a 2018 GMC Terrain. In an effort to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions and improve fuel economy GMC has decided to make all of their vehicles have auto start stop, but not allow drivers to disable it. The only way to turn off the system is to open the hood before You start the engine, then close the hood. This can trick the ECU into thinking the car is being inspected so that it will not turn off. There are also third party adapters that can disable start stop but none of them are endorsed or recommended by GMC.

To disable the auto stop on the 2018 gmc terrain, look on the driver side near the steering wheel. Press the button labeled with the letter a surrounded by an arrow in a circle.

The 2018 gmc terrain doesn't have this feature, so your answer to the question makes it invalid.

The only 2 ways to disable are putting it in L and pressing plus until you get to the highest gear or to have a tune installed that disables it like I did.

Actually, it does have that feature. Or at least the one I have does. Best way (in my opinion) is to use the button.

I have a 2018 Terrain SLE and there is no such button on mine. I had a rented Silverado last year and a 2021 Acadia last week and they both had the button to shut it off. My 2019 Terrain SLE didn’t have it either.

Auto stop Disabled!! I purchased this device from Zic Motors. It was simple to install and works perfectly. My Auto Stop hasn’t engaged once and it doesn’t affect any other systems. Https://zicmoto.com/gen-ii-engine-stop-start-or-auto-stop-ess-override-for-gmc-terrain-2018-2023/

I have a 2018 gmc terrain and it doesn't have the button to shut off the auto stop. So if you have a 2018 with the button...prove it..cause they don't have it.

I pushed the L button to the right of the transmission buttons and then the + button a few times not exactly sure how many times but three or four and that worked I did that 3days ago and the start/stop has not come back on, play with it and see for yourself this was on an 18 terrain,Denali 2.2 turbo with the nine speed transmission
