Ford's proprietary SecuriCode system is great failsafe for when You forget Your keys in the car, or otherwise need a quick way to unlock the vehicle. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much if You don't know the default code, so it's important to know how to find it on Your Ford Explorer. You're just a few steps away from progRamming the keypad to exactly what You want. Firstly, You may be able to find the factory code in Your owner's manual; there's usually a sticker there with the default code written on it. If You don't have Your manual, You can also find the same sticker on Your remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module, which is behind a removable panel in the rear left side of the Explorer.

To find the default 5-digit keyless code on a ford explorer or mercury mountaineer, begin by finding the panel that covers the remote anti-theft personality (rap) module that should be located to the left rear of your vehicle. Instead, turn the screws counterclockwise on the panel to disable the panel to access the code.

For an earlier model the door code can be found in the rear compartment of the car. It is near where the car jack is stored.
