To remove the rear hatch panel on the 2015 Ford Escape, You'll only need a handful of tools and a few minutes. Collect a Philips screwdriver, A7mm socket, a 10mm socket, and the necessary ratchet. You'll first need to remove the 7mm hex screws at the corners of the hatch. Then, near the handle's interior, You'll see two 10mm nuts. You need to remove these, but You don't need to disconnect the electrical connector that runs to the handle. Once these are removed, the only thing holding on the rear hatch panel are two plastic clips; You can either gently compress them with pliers or vise grips, or You can usually maneuver them by hand. Once they're disengaged, the hatch panel should pop off.

There are no Phillips screws on a 2015 escape hatch panel. There are 2 torx screws in the handle under a cover. Then it's all clipped on with metal clips so it's a matter of pulling the panel off. Be careful of the automatic lift gate button connection.

Lift up the hath first, and then remove all the phillips head screws along the panel, with a screwdriver. Start to pull the panel down, but it won't come out all the way until you open the window and release the rest of the panel. After you've released the top of the panel, you should be able to slip it out.
