While there are no outright recalls on the factory Hankook tires on the Ford Explorer, Ford put out a technical service bulletin on MarcH29, 2018 that pointed to issues with abnormal tread wear of those equipped on the 2015-2018 model years. Hankook offers pro-rated tire replacement on vehicles with fewer than 36,000 miles, though it may be unlikely that a vehicle this age is still so low in present day. If You want to look up the information for Yourself, do a search for Ford TSB #SSM47195. The technical service bulletin is especially noteworthy because the tire wear is not based on vehicle misalignment. The affected tires are 255/50R20 105H Ventus S1 Noble 2, but You're out of luck if You're over the 36,000 mile cap.

Mine had 17,000.Hankook said they would Reimburse for all of the tires the tires as I waited on the dealership to give me an answer for over 6 months. They were taken off and sent back to the manufacturer. Low and behold all of a sudden they had different measurements than what the tire expert here measured Them at. Therefore I did not get reimbursed at all. Slimy cockroaches.

I just noticed tread separation in the Hankook tires on my Ford Explorer. I was incredibly surprised because I have only 13,000 miles on my 2018 model. I've identified 2 so far 1 on the passenger rear, 1 one the driver front. It appears to be small 1/2 cuts about every 6 inches or so all the way around the tire near the sidewall. I thought I was crazy and had my husband take a look. Since this is a practically unused vehicle I started to look online for "notice of tread issues on Hankook". My surprise is this has been going on for a few years. Why have they not been pulled off the market and removed from all vehicles? It was only about 30 years ago that Firestone tires did something similar and it nearly put them out of business. I am clearly disappointed that I was not notified by Ford about these tires and that they they have not checked my vehicle for safety every time I take it in for an oil change.

There have been no recall for fords explorers with oem hankook tires. But there have been complaints of unusual wear, which hankook acknowledged and is helping to repair.
