Of the problems You may encounter with any vehicle, transmission problems are some of the most worrisome. Except for perhaps a total engine swap, a transmission is just about the most expensive replacement You could perform; in the case of the 2007 Ford Ranger, the transmission isn't typically known to have many issues or fail, so You're in luck there. Still, You'll want to take good care of Your truck, and hope that it does the same for You. The most commonly reported issues are a hard shift, erratic shifting, shaking from the engine compartment, or difficulty going into gear. Most of these issues are intermittent, and can be fixed with an ATF change. If You experience more serious symptoms, it's worth getting Your Ranger looked at, since damaging a transmission isn't something You should be doing.
