There have been reports of no reverse transmission problems in the 2011 Mazda CX7 it could be from valve body issues or low fluid. The valve body is one of the pieces of equipment that allows an automatic transmission to function correctly. By channeling hydraulic fluid through a series of paths, the valve body is able to trigger the correct clutch pack for the selected gearing. The main symptoms of a bad transmission valve body are: Hearing banging or knocking noises when pressure is applied to the brakes. Car slows down when the car is put in reverse mode or driving backwards. The shifting stick slips regularly when changing the gears.
