The Dodge Ram 1500 power steering problems can include a stiff wheel, or a wobbly wheel. Both can be solved by adding more power steering fluid. To change the power steering fluid You will need to first locate the container, which will be under the hood near the window. It will be a clear plastic container. Using a pump You will want to extract all of the fluid from the container. Once the fluid gets low You will want to turn the steering wheel, all the way to one side, then all the way to the other. This will cause the fluid in the wheel to drain into the container, remove this as well. Once the container is dry You can go ahead and fill it to the full line, but not over. It will take a little bit for the wheel to loosen up, so try driving for about 20 minutes to make sure it worked.

The most common issue with the power steering is the cpu to go bad causing it to not work, or the wire powering the switch to go bad causing it to not have power.
