Particularly in the 2016 model year (but extending to all), the Kia Sportage has some issues with the panoRamic sunroof. The most common issue is failure to close, which seems to be reported far and wide by drivers online. Less commonly (but still annoyingly) is a degradation of the quality of the weather sealing at the perimeter. The most common solution for the no-close issue is to heavily lubricate the rollers and tracks, but even this isn't very effective. If Your Sportage is still under warranty, I'm going to recommend takeng it to the dealer; it may even be worth the cost if it's not. The issues have stumped professionals far and wide, so if You're having them, You may want to consider a replacement.

I had a 2017 Sportage. My screen would randomly go black, transmission started slipping, the AC/Heat would either blow hot or cold on driver side (you couldn’t adjust the temperature) and I can’t honestly tell you HOW MANY times I had it in for the sunroof not closing. It was in the shop at least 7-8 times for the sunroof with the time frame of 4-8 WEEKS! They kept “fixing” it but continually said it didn’t need replacing. Needless to say I no longer have that car and will NEVER own another Kia product!!
2018 Kia Sportage has issue with sunroof not closing been to my dealer at least 5 times latest they are going to change whole sunroof will be gone for a week

A stuck panoramic sunroof is a problem in the 2019 kia sportage.
