The 2011 Chevy Impala is equipped with A4-speed transmission that has been heavily criticized for failure and faulty engineering. Chevy has never recalled the tranny in spite of numerous owners reporting its complete break down at anywhere froM30,000 to 95,000 miles. The car suddenly quits moving while being driven or can only move at a greatly reduced, almost undriveable speeds. No recall was ever issued and most customers either payed $1,600-$3,000 in parts and labor for the transmission to be replaced or scrapped their vehicle. The Chevy's tranny issues appear to affect vehicles built between 2006 and 2011. Signs a transmission is going out include reduced engine speeds, difficulty shifting and gear slippage.

The 2011 chevy impala has reported erratic and hard shifting can occur from a failed solenoid control of the transmission pressure. To fix this problem, it is necessary to partially disassemble the transmission to replace a failed solenoid pressure control.
