If Your Chevrolet Silverado's torque converter is going bad, You'll likely know it: there's a whole host of symptoms that You'll notice before an eventual failure. The most common and noticeable is slipping in and out of gear, especially while shifting. Over time, this can cause damage to Your transmission itself -- as can most of the other symptoms. You'll also likely notice that Your transmission is overheating. Your trans fluid may appear cloudy if You inspect it, and You'll notice violent shaking, even on smooth roadways. Your stall speed will likely increase, and You may even hear screeching, grinding, rubbing, or other sounds that shouldn't be coming from Your transmission. If not diagnosed and fixed quickly, torque converter issues might soon necessitate a full transmission replacement, costing upwards of $3,000.
