The most common cause the check engine light coming on on the 2019 Chevy Colorado is a loose or worn down gas cap. The gas cap, also known as the fuel filler cap, is a simple but important component that is found on the vast majority of road going cars and trucks. Their purpose is simple; to prevent dirt, debris, and dust from entering the gas tank, as well as providing a reliable seal.Driving without Your gas cap will not harm Your engine. Driving without Your gas cap will not cause You to lose fuel. There is a flapper valve built into Your car, and it will stop fuel from flowing out of Your tank. Driving without Your gas cap will not deliver harmful fumes into Your passenger cabin.

If it has a gas cap…. My 2017 does not. I’ve had an issue with its light coming on and off intermittently as well. Dealer has no clue. I’m slowly tying to to my gas levels. Keeping levels above half a tank and it appears the light hasn’t came on for a while.
