On the 2008 Lincoln MKX or MKZ, the wrench light mean a number of different things. It's a general trouble indicator for many of the same things that a check engine light would indicate -- but with a few more thrown into the fray. Without an OBD-II scan tool, diagnostics will be difficult, if not impossible. The wrench light is accompanied by one or more fault codes. If You read these codes, You'll have the ability to narrow down Your diagnostics significantly. Even if You're not able to find the specific cause from the first trouble code, You'll at least have an idea of which system component to begin with; this can be tremendously helpful when beginning Your diagnosis or repair.

The 2008 Lincoln MKX wrench light is about a powertrain malfunction/reduced power. The light illuminates when a powertrain or an AWD fault has been detected. Contact your authorized dealer as soon as possible.
