Under ideal conditions it would be reasonable to expect to get up to 20 years from the 2013 Ford Explorer. If You will initially follow the owners manual guidelines for routine maintenance such as checking the fluid levels often, having the oil and filters changed on a regular basis, and doing regular tune-ups with spark plug and wire replacements will go a long way in preventing serious issues within the engine. Rotating the tires will help wear the tires evenly which reduces stress on the wheel bearings and suspension parts. Overtime many of the components will wear out, like the brakes, starter motor, alternator, battery, fuel pump and various sensors, which is to be expected, but major mechanical problems can be averted.
