SAE 5W-30 is the best choice for good fuel economy and good starting on a a 2017 Toyota Yaris. If SAE 5W-30 is not available, SAE 10W-30 may be used. You can extend Your engine life, get better gas mileage, and have better performance if You change Your oil regularly. Routine oil and filter changes help remove particles and sludge from the engine. If the oil isn't changed, Your vehicle's engine will start to have a lot of problems.Over time the oil will become thinner, abrasive, and will start to wear down on vital engine parts. Synthetic oil is by far better for performance. It protects the engine due to lower levels of friction. Switching between synthetic and conventional oils will not cause any damage to an engine. In fact, synthetic blends are a mixture of synthetic and conventional oil.

My 2017 Yaris iA requires 0W-20. It’s written on the oil fill cover. Lift the hood and check your car.
