It's recommended to use Mobil 1 synthetic engine oil in the 2005 Kia Sportage. For optimal fuel efficiency, it is recommended to use an engine oil with a viscosity grade SAE 5W-20 or 5W-30. An alternative oil can be uses as long as it as the same viscosity and has an API Service SJ, SL or ILSAC GF-3 classification or above. The 2.0L engine has a capacity of 4.2-quarts and the 2.7L engine can hold 4.8-quarts. To ensure that the car will last for many years, the oil level should be checked at least once a week or every time You put gas in the tank and the oil changed every 5,000 miles or 4 months, whichever comes first.
