If You want to find out what type of oil Your 2005 Toyota Tacoma uses, then You've come to the right place. The oil type used on Your Toyota Tacoma is SAE 5W-30. If You can't find 5W-30 then You can also use 10W-30. It is recommended though that You change it back to 5W-30 at Your next oil change. The purpose of Your motor oil is of course to keep the motor lubricated and clean. It's supposed to make the engine last longer by coating its parts to keep the vehicle running smoothly. A word of advice from me to You is to check Your oil level around once a week to make sure You're not putting Your car at risk.

Both the 2.7L inline-4 engine option and the 4.0L V6 engine option in the 2005 Toyota Tacoma uses 5W-30 oil.
