Across the five different trim levels of the 2015 Toyota Prius, only one engine is offered -- regardless of Your configuration, You'll be rocking a 1.8L 4Cylinder engine under the hood. This makes easy for getting information about the oil type and capacity. You'll use 4.4 quarts of SAE 0W-20 full synthetic motor oil. If 0W-20 is not available, it's possible to use SAE 5W-20 in the short term. This is, however, not recommended. The reason behind this deals with oil viscosity. The numbers in an oil's weight refer to viscosity at varying temperatures -- first, at startup, and second, at operating temperature. Using higher numbers introduces more friction to the engine, which can lead to premature wear and tear. Therefore, always use the lowest allowable numbers by Your manufacturer, even if it costs a few more dollars for an oil change.

The 2015 Toyota Prius standard models take a 0W-20 viscosity. 2015 Toyota Prius C, the Prius Plug-In and the Prius V models also take 0W-20.
