The recommended oil type on the 2016 Subaru Impreza is SAE 0W-20 synthetic. If by any chance You can't find this viscosity, You can also use conventional oil with a rating of 5W-30 or 5W40. Just a small disclaimer, if You do steer away from SAE 0W-20, remember to change it back to that oil. The main function of engine oil as You may already know is to keep Your motor lubricated. While keeping it lubricated, it is elongating the life of Your motor and its components. It also provides cooling, cleaning and reduces friction so that the parts don't wear as quickly. Now that You see its importance, remember to take good care of it and change it as needed.
