The recommended coolant type used on the 2013 Chevy Malibu is DEXCOOL. You can use A50/50 mixture of drinkable water and coolant to make it easier for You. Some products that You can use are Prestone 1 Gallon Yellow 50/50 Coolant/Antifreeze or Peak 1 Gallon Orange Concentrate Coolant/Antifreeze. The purpose of the coolant in Your vehicle is to prevent overheating to the parts it comes in contact with. This includes Your water pump and its metal components. It's important that Your water pump mustn't overheat since a lot of damage can happen to Your engine if its fluids come in contact with each other. I would recommend checking the coolant level once a week with daily use so that You never run below MIN.
