The base model 2018 Dodge Challenger with the 3.6l v6 engine and the 5.7l v8 with automatic transmission will use 87 octane regular unleaded fuel and the 5.7l with manual transmission and the 6.4l v8 engine uses 91 octane premium unleaded. All three engines the 3.6l, the 5.7l, and the 6.4l allow for the use of e85 flex fuel. Despite popular belief the higher the octane fuel does not have any real benefits for Your engine or vehicle. It has been said You will get better gas mileage or it can potentially keep Your fuel injectors and fuel pump cleaner but these statements have been found to be false. The only vehicles that do require higher octane are luxury or performance vehicles that have a turbo or engine that requires higher combustion rates.
