It is best to use GM Power Steering Fluid in the 2011 Chevrolet Impala or an equivalent that meets General Motors standards. The power steering fluid reservoir is located toward the rear of the engine compartment on the passenger side. You should inspect the fluid level in the power steering reservoir occasionally or when You begin experiencing issues. The fluid level should remain fairly consistent overtime but if You have a leak You will have to add some. There are markings on the side of the reservoir which indicate the optimal fluid level. As long as the fluid remains between these two marks You're fine. If You notice that You're having to constantly add fluid to maintain the proper level You may have a leak somewhere within the system.
