The Honda CR-V can be flat towed at speeds up to 65 mph with all four wheels on the ground to avoid damage to the 4WD system. A high-quality metal tow bar needs to be used, never use a rope or tow strap. To prepare for towing, start the engine and press the brake, shift the transmission through all the gears one at a time, then shift to drive and finally into neutral. Let the engine run for three minutes and shut off. Turn the ignition switch to the accessory position so the steering wheel does not lock and leave the key in and make sure the parking brake is released. Turn the radio and any accessories off so You dont drain the battery.

Kathy from Honda. Do you think the 2021 Hybrid plug in CRV will be flat towable? The comparable Ford Escape hybrid Plug in is and their loyal Honda Boy is struggling to make a switch.
Honda CR-Vs 2014 & older can be flat towed with the proper procedure. CR-Vs 2015 & newer CANNOT be flat towed due to power train redesign using a "CVT" type transmission.
You can not flat tow(all 4 wheels on the pavement) a Honda CRV younger than 2014. . Not sure where the above people got there info. I sell Honda's for a living and work at a Honda dealership. 2014 was the last year they did a 6 speed trans and in 2015 went to the CVT. Look for a Honda fit in a manual.that would be your best bet if you wanted a newer Honda to Flat tow. But you better act fast the 2020 is the last year for the Honda Fit, it's going by by.

At legal highway speeds of up to 65 mph (100 km / h) the cr-v can be towed behind a motorhome. Not to reach 100 km / h (65 mph). Otherwise it would do serious harm to the transmission. It must be towed with all four wheels on the ground (flat towing) to prevent damage to the 4wd system.
My 2020 CRV manual says this: Towing Your Vehicle Your vehicle is not designed to be towed behind a motor home. If your vehicle needs to be towed in an emergency, refer to the emergency towing information. 2 Emergency Towing P. 640
