The fuel filter on a 2004 Dodge Durango is located in the gas tank and is integrated into the fuel pump module. The filter is not serviceable and if it were to become damaged or clogged the entire fuel pump would have to be replaced. In order to replace the fuel pump the gas tank needs to be removed. Before beginning the job disconnect the fuel pump fuse and start the engine and let the gas run out. Do this a few times until the vehicle will not start, this will relieve the pressure from the lines. Disconnect the fuel lines going into the top of the tank and unplug the electrical connections. There are two straps that hold the tank up, You will need a jack that will span the with the tank and support it when removing.

It's gonna be the fuel pump seal but you are better off just replacing the entire fuel pump I know mine I got from autocone has a liftime warranty.
When the vehicle is sitting steel at a light, you can smell gas in the cabin other vehicle, so that’s why I was wondering was something going on with the fuel tank of the pump inside of it other than that the vehicle runs very well
