The 2006 AudiA4 QUATTRO came with a 2.0T 4Cylinder turbocharged engine, with code BPG. This modELRequires the use of 4.8 quarts of one of the following: SAE 0W-30, SAE 0W-40, SAE 5W-30, or SAE 5W-40. These are listed in order of preference, and all oils are synthetic. The reason You shouldn't travel farther down the list is because although they may be a little cheaper, thicker oils will prematurely wear Your engine. This is because the greater the friction, the harder Your A4 needs to work to produce the same output. This can eventually lead to engine failure at lower mileage than it otherwise would -- which, for an Audi owner, means an expensive repair or an even more expensive replacement.
