The 2012 Chevrolet Impala has two different camshaft sensors in the 3.6L V6 engine. You'll find them both in the engine bay, on the left side of the engine. To access them, You need to remove the oil filter cap and the black cover from the top of the engine. Overall, they're relatively easy to get to, and swapping them out shouldn't take You more than a few hours at most, including set up and tear down. You'll find one of the sensors nearer to the front of the vehicle, and one near the back of the engine bay. They both fail with about the same frequency, so You'll need to isolate which one You need to replace -- Bank 1 or Bank 2. You can find them for around $35 new online, or as little as $10 remanufactured.

It’s a funny yet sad thing.. That no one internet, Iv lookd quite a lot, knows or at least says, which camshaft is exhaust side(probley the outer ones, but no1 says) or how to remove those s2pid-S clips without breaking them, or what kind of penetrating fluid is rubber plastic safe & non-conductive(maybe wd40 silicone).. But no one ever says this stuff.. Funny but pathetic👋😒

Nick, no one knows what YOU mean by left, right, front or back. Amos, is there somewhere that the head is above valve cover?
