The fuel pressure regulator in a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 is located on the fuel sending unit that is located in the gas tank. This was moved there because they needed to allow the regulator to vent pressure back into the tank and they did not want to run another line from the engine back to the tank. The fuel pressure regulator has the job of controlling the PSI of the fuel as it goes through Your lines up to Your rail and injectors. It can either increase or decrease pressure. If You notice that the fuel pressures do not seem right then it is most likely a problem with the regulator.
