First off, it's a straight 6 not a V6. It requires either 0-40 or 5-40. People suggest 5-30 only because it's more readily available in the U.S. BMW's are notorious for engine bearing failure and it's for 2 reasons; the suggested interval is too long and People use the wrong oil.
