There are two camshaft position sensors in the 2005 Chevy Colorado. Both are located on the front of the engine above the serpentine belt. CMP Sensor 1 is on the left side and CMP Sensor 2 is on the right. They both are held to the engine with a 10-milimeter bolt and an electrical connector has to be unplugged before removing. The sensors monitor the position of the intake and exhaust valves and enables the engine control to determine the exact position of the crankshaft drive. This information is needed to calculate when the fuel is injected into the cylinder and when the spark plugs are fired to ignite the fuel. If the sensors are bad the engine performance will go down.

Are these parts interchangeable? Or are they specifically 1 for exhaust and 1 for intake?
