The 2006 Chevy Cobalt power steering is located in the power steering reservoir in the engine bay. The power steering fluid needs to be changed every 75,000 miles. Along with changing fluids, You will come across noises from steering parts. A loose bearing will become annoying to the ear. A faulty bearing will make a nasty sound. Having great steering is important for changing lanes and moving about on the road. You will eventually come across some problems though. The steering pump can become loose and that will be disaster for Your vehicle. The strut bearings may become bad. The rack mount can become faulty. Steering fluid can leak at one point. It may turn to one side. The steering wheel can become stuck.

The 2006 Chevy Cobalt's "power steering" system is located primarily INSIDE the STEERING COLUMN, and DOES NOT use POWER STEERING FLUID because it uses an ELECTRIC MOTOR for power steering, not a hydraulic one. In fact, ALL Chevy Cobalts (sSS & LS) use electric power steering systems, therefore there is NO "power steering fluid", nor is there a "power steering fluid reservoir".
