The crankshaft position sensor in a 2007 Chevy Impala 3.5 L is located on the passenger side of the engine behind the crank pulley. To be able to get to it You'll have to remove the passenger tire, the wheel liner, serpentine belt and crank pulley, a harmonic balancer puller will be needed to remove the pulley. The crank sensor monitors the rotational speed of the crankshaft DC You use the data it retrieves from the center and will control the delivery and ignition of the fuel. A bad sensor will cause the check engine light to come on, make it difficult to start the car, You may experience stalling, and rough idling. To have one replace it'll cost between $200 and $300.

Crankshaft position sensor is behind the transaxle bracket right side of vehicle. It is below the exhaust manifold near the fire wall. Find the knock sensor, it is to the right and below.

This is best guess without goggle box I'm thinking probably where the distributor used to be. The area above the bell housing. Or timing cover.
