The 2015 Ford Explorer vent mode actuator is located behind the dash on the passenger side. It is also called the blend door actuator. The blend door actuator is a small electric motor that features sensors connected to Your car's climate control system. As You adjust the temperature up and down, or the intensity of the airflow, the signals go through the actuator. Some of the blend door actuator symptom scan vary from hearing the ticking of noise from Your dashboard when You start the car or if the heater in our car is blowing cold or the AC is blowing hot. An actuator can become faulty if the plastic gear set turns out to be fragile and it breaks.

It is located behind the dash. If you remove your drivers instrument panel you can see the top 2 screws on the right side.its not a fun job to replace.

The vent mode actuator determines which vents get air- ie defrost, floor, etc. On my 2015 Explorer it is behind the dash on the driver's side. The blend door actuator controls the mix of hot and cold air. It is behind the dash on the passenger side on my 2015 explorer
