Like many vehicles today, You'll find the cabin air filter in the 2017 Ford Explorer behind the passenger side glove compartment. You need to remove the compartment by undoing a few clips that are holding it in place and You'll see a thin plastic cover directly behind it. Just pull off that cover and remove the old filter and slide in Your new filter. You probably only need to worry about replacing the filter every 30,000 miles or so but it's important that You do it. The filter will help to keep certain pollutants, dust, and pollen from going through the HVAC system and getting into the cabin. These filters are cheap and can usually be purchased for under $15. -
